Question 351 to 302 engine swop

I blew up the 351 in my 1978 Ford Bronco, I bought a 302 out of a 1987 Ford Bronco. they both have c6 auto tran. The newer engine should bolt right up to my bellhousing, right?
Any info on this enginge swop would be appriciated, thanks

Nope, it's not a direct swap. The 351 that came in the 78 Bronco was a 351M, and that uses a different bellhousing than the 302. It would be a direct swap if the 351 was a Windsor, but they didn't put 351 Windsors in trucks back in 78.

The engine it the crown vic would be a 351w which is basically the same as a 302, it will bolt up to you’re aod trans. you might have to change the oil pan and pickup tube but the one from the 302 will fit, the reason you will have to change it is because the one for the crown vic is a dual sump. Other then that everything else should be the same. Good luck

Hello there bro..Our buddy 92Flare is right. The 301 and the 302 have different bellhousing. So for your convenience you would need an adapter plate. And i think so that you won't get confused on the mounting of your Ford auto parts, hire a local mechanic to help you out..
