Engine & DrivetrainEngines and Drivetrains can be a major problem for a lot of vehicles. If you are having engine or drivetrain problems, you can post your questions/concerns about the issue. Furthermore, if you are in the process of doing an engine rebuild, post your progress with pictures.
I know of a '73 Mercury Grand Marquis out there with a running "N" code 429. Is this engine worth the trouble of salvaging or not? Hp figures I've seen on the net are 201 hp. Probably expensive for parts?
Also a '72 302 Torino 4 dr I could probably get cheap for parts. I know there are a ton of 302's out there.
I own a '68 GT Torino with the 289 2V auto and am thinking of upgrading the engine.
The 429 would probably be a pain to get in plus I'd need heavier suspension.
Thanks for the info. Deep down I knew the 302 would be a better bet but the thought of having a 429 is cool.
Just for the sake of argument, what could be done to the 429 to make it a non-smog motor.
Again, I'm new at this, so I'll be asking lots of stupid questions!
