Smile 98 Ford Crown Vic. Need help locating Mass Air Flow Sensor

Hey all. Newb to the site and looking for some help.

My 98 Crown Vic has been running rough for a while. It was determined the Mass Air Flow Sensor is defective, so I've reserved a reconditioned one (With a 1 year warranty) and am collecting it this evening.

Does anyone know where it is located on the car and what tools I'll need to replace it?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a part of this community.

Here is a pic of my MAF on my '99 CV. It is right after the air filter.

Thanks for that. I got it changed succesfully but the issue still exists. Guess its the O2 sensors next (Already changed the fuel filter, sparks and now MAF).

I'll have a brand new car at this rate, lol!

Engine code said lean too low, Bank 1, so can't be too many options left now!

Before you just throw the whole parts department at this thing why don't you post the codes and let us have a look. I am going to guess you got a scan at a parts store and the codes indicate a lean condition by your approach. Let me say that there are only about 4 codes that directly indicate an 02 is bad. All the other codes are information SENT by a PERFECTLY functioning 02. You are most likely shooting the messenger here. Look for vacuum leaks, deteriorated hoses and spray some carb cleaner around the intake gasket area and observe the idle. If you get a change you have found your problem.
