Escort 1.6i 16V European edition slows down up the hill...

Hi All!
I just found this great forum, I'm writing from the EU. We have a famlily car, 1994 Ford Escort 1.6i Zetec. A year or 2 ago, some strange problems begun to occur. Several parts were changed in the motor, also the exhaust pipe system. Nowdays, the same problem is present: Going up a hill with cold engine , gear in 2, motor gives a strange voice and the car doesnt want to go up. Its power seems to be like a 800 ccm shit, torque is not enough even going up to 4000-4200 rpm. Then the engine simply stops. After some minutes starts seamlessly, rpm tays stable around 1000. But if I give some load.. the same.
Suggestions?

Sure sounds like a fuel issue to me. Fuel pressure or a kinked line maybe.
