Default 1999 expedition transmission

hello so i have a new problem with my expedition..... today when i noticed that when i start the truck up there is this kind of like grinding noise that sounds like if its coming from the radiator or somewhere around there and when i drive the truck for a little bit it stops... so the next thing that came up i noticed that when i take off it goes almost to 4000 RPM to shift into second and it does this if i step on the gas hard or slow and when it shift it takes a couple of seconds to do so. does anyone what this problem could be?

Sounds like a transmission problem:

1. Have you check the transimission oil level recently? Do it in neutral or Park, transmission & engine warmed and on level surface.
2. What color is the trans fluid - should be ruby red, if it is brownish red, it means the fluid need to be replaced but it also may mean there is an issue in the tranny causing the fluid to turn brown. From teh dipstick let a few drops of fluid drop on a white paer towel.
3.How often did you change your transmission fluid? How many miles on your vehicle.
4. The nosie up front could be the torque converter or transmission pump.
5. The delayed up shifting could mean the clutches are worn or fluid is low in the trans.
6. Is this vehicle a SUV or a Truck?
