Engine & DrivetrainEngines and Drivetrains can be a major problem for a lot of vehicles. If you are having engine or drivetrain problems, you can post your questions/concerns about the issue. Furthermore, if you are in the process of doing an engine rebuild, post your progress with pictures.
well here we are again, solved the privious binding problem when 4x4 was engaged which was cause due to the wrong rear end instalded by privious owner. Fixed the problem and the truck ran great until I hit a rock on the edge of the road with the front tire blowing out front and rear tires on the passenger side. I replaced the tires and immediatly tried out the 4x4. Guess what, BINDING is happeniong. Thinking it might have done damage to the front axle I replaced it cause I had one on hand. Still BINDING. And now it does not even take off on drive, only on L2 and after it gets going you can shift into drive and it's ok. Oh yeah, and when you turn the 4x4 on no lights on dash come on and you get the blinking action. And yes, I've tried tapping the motor on the back of the transfer case and also applied 12 volts to it and reversed the wires and it works back and forth no problem, but yet not when I use the switch in the car. So, we have a binding problem and a switch problem. Any Ideas out there?
Thanks in advance

Your problem started when you changed the tires. Therefore, the problem is in the your new tires. THEY ARE THE WRONG SIZE. Just because they SAY the same size on the sidewall does NOT necessarily mean they are the same size. Different makers have subtle differences in sizes even amongst their own series of tires even though they all SAY the same size. So, to solve your problem you need to make sure ALL tires are same size, ALL tires are made by same maker, ALL tires are the same series, and ALL tires have same air pressure.
You should also check to make sure that you did not deform your wheel. Deformed wheels can also cause binding because they effectively change the tire diameter of mounted tires.
It is extremely unlikely that you hit the rock hard enough to have damaged your front end although you should realign the front end just in case.

Update:
I'm 99.9% sure it has nothing to do with the tires. Changed the T-case electric motor and now when 4x4H is engaged it actually lights up on dash board. But it will not engage into 4low. When 4x4H is engaged it slightly binds when steping on gas. When taking a turn it binds and constant bind when in reverse. The other thing is if any one could comfirm, is the front shaft to the front diff. supose to be turning when on 2wd? I don't think its supose to but I'm not sure. Oh! one more thing I came accross late this afternoon, I checked the T-case fluid and it was low about a qt. and found alot of metal pieces. It looked like small pieces of coper wire. To me it seems the T-case is shot. Any Ideas on all questionalble issues!
boss,
I may be completely wrong, but I think that the transfercase is chain driven.
Probably the meatball previous owner, threw it into 4x4 on the fly with the wrong rear in it and shreaded parts inside the transfer case.
