Default Escape overdrive light flashing

My daughter has a 2001 Escape. I just changed out the starter and forget the leaking coolant temp sensor, the O/D light is flashing on the dash and the trans seems like its shifting awkward. Does anybody know what I could have disturbed around the starter that would cause this O/D light to start flashing? Could a faulty replacement starter possibly cause this?... Thank so much for any help!

My guess is the ABS sensor. I have a 2000 ranger that was doing the same thing. On my truck the sensor is located on top of the differential. It has one bolt holding it in.
