Default Wanting to paint the bumpers

hello guys. My husband wants to aint the bumpers on our Galaxie. What all needs to be done to prep bumpers for paint? They are metal bumpers. Please let me know for the past two days I have been sanding them. And I yet to get one bumper done. There has to be an easier way. For I have called my husband every name is the book except dear husband for wanting these painted.

Any help would be SO Great ful.

Krista

No more chrome??

Trying to dig through my brain...get it scuffed up good with a wire wheel or such, adhesion promoter, primer, paint...hmm sounds too simple to me, hopefully someone else will chime in.

Maybe sand/soda blasting? After it is down to the metal, make sure the surface is nice. Paint won't hide scratches/defects.

I painted the bumpers on my 68 Fairlane convertible last year. I used my high speed disc sander with an 80 grit disc and went over them to be sure they were scuffed really good. I then treated them like any other part of car. I used some light bondo in the imperfections then primed and sanded. After getting them smooth I used the same paint as on the car. They still look Great!!
Good Luck
