Default Found a replacement windshield on a junkyard car, how do I safely remove it?

I got lucky this weekend and stumbled on a 70 LTD 2 door that has a perfect windshield on it, as opposed to my multi-cracked current one. I plan on going back this coming weekend to claim my prize.

I have never removed or installed a windshield, or even seen it done up close. What tools do I need for this project?

I'm thinking I just want to remove the windshield glass and have a shop swap it for me. Installation seems like too big a job, and outside my skill range to be done well.

Any ideas? Past experiences?

Yep I would pay for an expert to do this job. My first window removal was my last cause I broke it.

Sounds like a plan. I knew when I went to take the last piece of chrome off, and slightly chipped an edge of the windshield with hardly any pressure, it was time to seek help. My friend who was helping me get the seats (perfect white leather, no tears!) and other parts didn't want to go any further - good call.

That particular LTD is crunched now, but there will be others, and I will be ready with a glass guy on speed dial.

Thanks for the advice and relaying your experiences guys. I figured a pair of suction cups and a box cutter wouldn't be enough.
