It's comfortable on long trips and stable at high speeds. The Focus is among the best of the compacts in terms of ride quality and has been lauded by the enthusiast publications for its handling.

I'm not talking about the Euro - Ford Focus.

Focus came out in 2000. It was a great car. Expert review rave about it. Ok, it aged. Ford update it in 2008 (current).

If we read the review, it would be negative. Ok, we can say Focus have not kept up wit the competitior, but the review seems like Ford made the car worst as far as handling and performance.

I'm driving a 09 (SE) as a rental, and felt it's a good little car. If this is "bad" as far as handling, than the old Focus must be really good.

Focus experts, what did Ford do to make the current car "bad?"

I kind of like it (SE).

I am working on a 2003 ford focus. My little brother was driving it and had no problems, then he turned a corner it died and has not worked since. It shows no codes on the OBDII reader. It has Fuel getting to the Cylinders, it has compression on all 4 cylinders, it has Spark, there is no obstruction in the Intake, or exaust.
So I am lost, It has the big 3 fuel, air, spark, but will not start. It turns over fine, but does not start or run. will not even start with Starting fluid. At this point I am willing to look at anything. The owner is in Iraq, and will be home soon, and we want to have it ready for him.

2001 Focus oil and fuel pressure problems

It all started 2 years ago. I was driving and hit a big pot hole. Bent the rim pretty bad. I was broke at the time and could not afford to repair of replace the rim. I parked the car for 4 months. I got the rim fixed and started driving it again. Five miles down the road the oil light came on. I pulled over and checked the oil level. It was good. I restarted the car and the light was off for about 1/2 mile and back on. I shut it off again and opened the oil cap. There was oil up in the valves. I drove it home and replaced the oil sending unit. That was not the problem. I installed an oil pressure gauge. I started the car and had 65 lbs. of pressure cold. As the car warmed up the pressure dropped eventually going down to zero. I could shut the car off and start it right back up and the pressure would be 35 lbs. and start to drop. Restart and back up to 35 lbs. and drop. I was thinking it was the pressure bypass in the oil pump but I didn't have the money to repair it. I parked the car again. 2 weeks ago I went out to work on the car. I charged the battery and started the car. It ran for 30 secs. and died. Then all it would do is crank and not fire. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it would run and die. I checked the fuel shut off rely and the fuse. Both were good. This weekend I tried starting it to see if some elf’s fixed it during the week and it ran for 30 second and died. I drained the gas tank, put fresh gas in, and replaced the fuel filter. When I had the fuel filter off I reconnected the battery and cranked the engine to see if the fuel pump was working. No mess. The pump was not working. I went to pull out the fuel pump relay and noticed the fuse was now blown. I replaced the fuse and still no luck and the fuse is still good. So before I spend any more time and money on the car is there anyone out there with some wisdom they can share? It would be greatly appreciated.
I purchased the car with 35,000 miles on it. I have keeped up with oil changes and never had to add oil between changes.
Thanks

I have a 2004 Focus manual transmission

My foot caught on a wire as I was getting out of the car and something detached, and now the car won't start. The battery is fine so I think it might have to do with the clutch switch. A spring and a little metal piece came out, and I'm not sure how to reattach it! Please help if you can, if that's even the problem.
