The Probe appeared in 1988 and lasted until 1997 in the United States. It was based on a series of futuristic concept cars of the early 1980s, the likes of which have been seen in films like Judge Dredd, Back to the Future Part II and Total Recall. It was a coupe based on the Mazda GD platform, and was powered by a 2.2 L SOHC I4 cylinder Mazda F2 engine.

I recently bought a 95 probe se off of my friend. The radio in it had been stolen but the harnesses were still there. I bought the Metra 70-5511 Harness to integrate the stock amplifier in. So i hooked up the new cd player and just the front 2 speakers and only the left side is working. I continue to hook up the rear speakers and still only have audio coming out of the left side. I went through the settings on my cd player and the balance and everything is at 0 so both sides should function. I then noticed that there is audio coming out of the right side its just barely audible and the volume knob doesnt adjust it at all. I thought it was a bad deck because my cd player and front aux input didnt function until i noticed that the old disc changer remote was still in the car and powered on. So i powered off the remote and my cd player and aux inputs work as well as my radio stations (which didnt work before). Im not sure what this disc changer remote plugs into or if it is even the root of my speaker problem. Any help would be appreciated.

AT WITS END
having a problem with 94 Probe GT won't turn over before it totally died i was having intermittent starting trouble i would turn the key to start and nothing thought it might be a neutral safety switch A/T or ingition switch checked out ok went to advanced auto had them put their analyzer on it everything checked out ok except the amps on the alt. they were jumping from 5 to 20 they said its probably a bad connection so i removed the alt, battery and starter had them tested seperatly went through the engine compartment and cleaned all + and - connections have power to starter solinoid but not enough to engage starter how could you have a power drain of this magnitude and not blow a fuse? before it died i was checking the transmission fluid and the dipstick sparked also the o/d light would flash from time to time but didn't seem to cause any problem with the key in the on position the cooling fans come on sometimes even though the engine is cold something is telling the fans to come on could it be cpu, pcm or tcm? traced a short to engine fuse still tracing would appreciate any feedback

well I was driving my probe yesterdday and a moron driving a big suburban decided to run me off a dirt road and I hit a tree at about 20 on the drivers side:shocked:
the headlights were on so the drivers side headlight is now looking up and into oncoming traffic, the quarter panel is toasted, the hood is a bit bent (savable), the bumper snapped a few clips, etc(savable). now the big thing is that it bent the lower cont. arm in the middle and god knows what else. other than that I was able to drive it home (a mile) with some skilled steering wheel holding.

the reason im posting this is now I have a dilemma, I have a dune buggy in need of a drivetrain, im wondering with these things whats a cost/benefit cut off on these cars. I can deal with the hood/quarter panel/headlight assy. and other sheetmetal parts but getting into the suspension on these things I'm lost as far as costs. involved. would it be better off to yard the motor/tranny and put them in the back of my dune buggy, swap out the intake for a 2 barrel and get the dune buggy runnin or should I just fix the car?

I posted a thread awhile ago about how at times my car will shake and rpm's go down to like 200ish. The car feels like its stalling out. Here is a senario. I drive 3 miles to the store. Turn my car off, get some milk, go out to my car, turn it on. Everything is fine. Backup, and put in first to a stop sign 300 feet away, get rpm's like 2500 we'll say. Push the clutch pedal and the break to come to a stop and it will go to just under 1000 rpm's then drop to where it feels like im stalling out. But this doesn't happen every time. Its like a hit or miss type of thing. Some days yes, some days no. Weather doesn't seem to affect it in any way.

I've tried running seafoam through the car.
I put in a ram intake (thought it could've been the car not getting air.. idk)
Tried plus gas for a week, then preimium gas for a week.

Not sure what the problem is. Any help would be awesome, thanks.

My car is a 1997 Ford Probe 4 cylinder, 2.0, 5 speed.

Thanks.
