Hello everyone!

We just purchased a 1971 Ranchero (351 Cleveland).

She's beautiful, with just one dent on the passenger's side door, that we hope we can pop out. We'll post images soon.

Does anyone know it's towing capacity? Is her wheel base long enough to tow an Airstream? The last owner stated that he removed a tow hitch, but wasn't sure if it was original. We'd like to use her to tow one of our Airstreams, preferrably our 26' 1959 Airstream Overlander, but will be more than happy if all she can handle is our 16' Bambi or 19' Globetrotter.

Any information or insight would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

This was my first rebuild. The car barely dragged itself onto the ramp at the shop where I did the build. Every clutch was nothing but metal. Now I'm putting power to the ground but only in 1st and 2nd (rev & P are good). I think the bands are adjusted correctly. Front band had 1/4" space, torqued to 10 inch lbs, and screwd in 3/4 turn. Rear band was torqued to 10ft/lbs and backed out 1 1/2. I could be off considering I don't have a clicking tq wrench. The valve body was in bad shape. Seemed like every valve was sticky. I'm leaning towards valves still sticking. I am using a new modulator that came with kit. I had a 2-3 shift before the build. Same converter as well.
It's also not dropping down to 1st at a stop. It will drop if you hammer on it enough to engage the kick down.
Thanks for info. My Galaxie friends just want to see me get a c-6 and scrap the old FMX that someone threw in here. Yup it's bolted to an FE block.

What tire size options do I have?

Time to put new tires (and maybe wheels) on my 1961 Ranchero. The rotted ones in front are 195/60R14 and 215/60R14 in rear. These are on Cragar Mags, but the chrome is peeling on them anyway, so I am considering new wheels, too.

What are my size options? Can/Should I get larger wheels? I will probably want to upgrade front brakes next year.

This is going to be my daily driver and its built 289, 4-speed Toploader, and 9-inch will let me get some performance out of it, I would think!

She wants to try her hand at fixing a dent on driver side front fender, even though I already bought one from a junk yard.
