Five Hundred Ford Five Hundred looks like just another conservatively styled family sedan. But peel away the Passat-like sheet metal and you will find a well engineered, highly competent chassis, much of it lifted from the Ford-owned Volvo S80. The Five Hundred sedan will be sharing this new Volvo-derived platform with the Ford Freestyle untapped markets.

Question Transmission Bucking?

Has anyone experienced their transmission on the Five Hundred bucking when you are decelerating? It usually happens at 25MPH. It feels as though the bottom is going to fall off. Well, if I lived in the ice we could make lemonade out of this car! Took the car to a transmission specialists who happens to be a good friend of mine. After diagnosing that there is a problem, he informed me that there are no after market parts, and Ford cannot even confirm if they make parts. Since this is a 2005 model, and this is the first year this transmission was installed on a Ford vehicle. He told me he had to pull the transmission, take it apart, and see if it could be repaired, if not, I would need a new unit....day 3: no parts, I need a new unit. $5,000 for a new unit installed. New unit from Ford does come with a 3yr 75K warranty. Even though Ford has not, or will not acknowledge a problem, just the fact that the warranty is 75K makes me wonder.

Last Ford I will ever own, period!

Thanks

Which transmission do you have? Is it an AWD car?

This just happened to me last night, I have a 2006 automatic transmission. The problem stopped as soon as I turned the AC off though.
