Five Hundred Ford Five Hundred looks like just another conservatively styled family sedan. But peel away the Passat-like sheet metal and you will find a well engineered, highly competent chassis, much of it lifted from the Ford-owned Volvo S80. The Five Hundred sedan will be sharing this new Volvo-derived platform with the Ford Freestyle untapped markets.

Default Dash panel freak out

2006 Ford 500 company car with 110,000 miles. Great car except 1 thing. Every now and then the gages and all associated lights will light up on the dash panel and odometer goes flat line. Car continues to run, no effect whatsover. After 20 seconds all goes back to normal. Anyone else experience this?

Default Gauges

There is a TSB out on this where they replace the instrument cluster... Mine was done under warranty. They may help you out since there is a TSB on it? Hope so anyway!

my ford five hundred is also doing this. It has happened on long trips and around town. the car is also giving me a check engine and transmission code sometimes when the dash module decides to freak out. i just pulled the code on such a freak out and it U0121. this is an ABS control module code (apparently the abs control module was not communicating with the transmission.) i have in the past cleared the codes and the car seems to drive fine. i too am curious to find more about the service bulletin. how much does a new dash module cost? does that even fix the problem or is this a gremlin that even a good mechanic can chase down? also my auto is a 2005 five hundred with only, 26k miles on it and i believe that it has the aisin trasmission (but don't quote me...i'm pretty sure its not the cvt transmission). any help is greatly appreciated. my experience with some of these mysterious electrical problems make me think about getting rid of the car sooner rather than later.

Not happening as often, but when it does happen it is staying freaked out longer. Noticed this time a/c compressor kicks off, no check engine lights on. Duration is anywhere from 1-4 minutes.

Okay, did it twice the last 2 days. Most recent the doors re-locked themselves after coming out of coma, makes me suspect the computer.
