But peel away the Passat-like sheet metal and you will find a well engineered, highly competent chassis, much of it lifted from the Ford-owned Volvo S80. The Five Hundred sedan will be sharing this new Volvo-derived platform with the Ford Freestyle untapped markets.
I'm just curious how many people have had issues with their transmission on the Ford 500. I have a 2005 with 55,000 miles on it and am being told that I need a new transmission!!! Warranty is gone.....the dealer and ford motor company say I'm out of luck because of no warranty and no recalls....Says it will cost me $5500 for a new transmission.
I jsut picked up my 2006 500 from the dealer. The transmission made a load clunking noise when it downshifted. The fixed by reprogramming. TSB 05-24-05
