Five Hundred Ford Five Hundred looks like just another conservatively styled family sedan. But peel away the Passat-like sheet metal and you will find a well engineered, highly competent chassis, much of it lifted from the Ford-owned Volvo S80. The Five Hundred sedan will be sharing this new Volvo-derived platform with the Ford Freestyle untapped markets.

Default 2005/2006 Five Hundred

How to remove the radio/cd from the dash? Are there any special tools needed?

Thanks,

B.D.

It's pretty easy. Most of the pieces you have to remove are held in by clips. First, remove the small rectangular trim piece around the shifter. Then pull the whole middle section out, including the cupholders (all one piece.) You will need to open the center console lid to do this. There are two 9/32" screws that will be exposed when you remove this piece that will allow you to then pop off the wood grain trim around the radio. (in my 2005, the climate controls are attached to the wood grain.) There are then four 9/32" screws holding the radio in place. About a 15 min. job. Go to http://www.metraonline.com/downloads...NST99-5807.pdf
On page 3 of the kits instruction manual, there are directions you can print. Good luck! By the way, what are you planning to put in??? I want to keep the factory radio and steering wheel controls, but add amps and new speakers.

I have a 2007 SEL with the stock 4 speaker radio. Sound is a bit flat. Have you replaced your speakers? If so, did the sound improve? Hoping a simple speaker upgrade will do the trick and that the electronics in the stock radio are adequate for decent sound when paired up with better speakers.

radio removal.
1) remove the lower piece that wraps around the center It's a small piece the same color as the dash board (it's just held on by clips).
2) pull the tray from the dash, there are no screws just carefully pull it straight out (hazard switch is attached so pull carefully).
3) remove the two screws you can see after removing the tray from the dash. there are two phillip head screws on either side of the radio
4) behind the lower piece of the dash you will see 4 more screws remove the two that hold the face plate for the heater control, then remove the bottom two and the whole bracket that holds the radio in will come right out.
It took a while to figure this out, and the dealer was absolutely no help.
