Five Hundred Ford Five Hundred looks like just another conservatively styled family sedan. But peel away the Passat-like sheet metal and you will find a well engineered, highly competent chassis, much of it lifted from the Ford-owned Volvo S80. The Five Hundred sedan will be sharing this new Volvo-derived platform with the Ford Freestyle untapped markets.

Unhappy Ford Five Hundred LEAK

My Five hundred has been to the dealership 4 times now for a leak in the rear right passenger area. It started out with the footwell flooding and now the right rear door is full of water. Am I the only one with this problem? My Five Hundred is a 2005. I love the drive the storage and passenger space but this water leak is just killing it for me.

I have the exact same problem. I think it leaked so bad it shorted out my reverse beeper this week. The service guys don't seem to know what to do about this. I would bet the farm that there are others having this same problem. Any luck on finding a cure?

Default Leak in trunk and front interior

I am having a similar problem and have been dealing with it since April. My car has been in the shop six times and just today I checked the carpet on the front driver's side and it was wet once again. In April I noticed a horrible smell in our car that gave me and my kids horrible headaches. After we began sneazing we started searching the vehicle for the problem. We discovered moisture build up in the spare tire well that complete saturated the trunk's carpet. We realized that it was mold that was making us sick.

A very long story short...they found cracks under the trim that runs long ways on the roof of the car but then detected another leak somewhere under the front driver's side floor mat. They still have no idea where the leak is coming from. We've contacted Ford several times but the man we've dealt with has been incredibly rude and not helpful in anyway. All of this started while the car was under warranty but now it is not. We asked for an extended warranty for this problem but they refused to. I am so frustrated with this situation. We have been a loyal customer of Ford's having purchased the last SEVEN vehicles from them. We have alway been prompt with our payments and have never had any other complaints. Even though we receive the "A" plan we are seriously considering buying from another company but not until this problem is resolved. I feel like they are just waiting for us to trade it in and that isn't right! Do you have any advice?

My back passanger drivers side door holds water at times. Not everytime it rains just hard rains. The dealer is telling me it is a problem with debris in the door blocking the drain. But why only that door/that drain? I have had it into the dealership 3 times but it has happened many more times than that. Worried

I had my 500 for about two months without any heavy rain storms... up entill last week when it rained for about two days without stopping.. when i pulled out the drive way i heard something like water splashing almost like my old car i could hear the gas swooshing in the tank... but it came from behind me.... then i knew the rear left door had to have water inside it... i have heard of this problem befor so i kinda assumed that was what it was... anyway i did the break check by stepin on it hard to make it swoosh again.. so that was the only thing i could think of.... anyways when i got to the place i was goin i opened the back door and water was now flowing out of the bottom of my rear driver door like a waterfall... so the little drain holes i guess were clogged.. later that day i took a air compressor and hit all the door drain holes to unclogg them... havent had this problem sence... which it has been raining every other day... i dont understand why water would go inside the door i know they put paint layers or even wax layers in there but my old car had such good seal gaskets it would never get a drop.... but it wasnt a ford soo....

I too have experienced a major leak only on the passenger side. They do not know where it is leaking. I took out about 1/2 gallon of water from under the soaked carpet. Ford told me to watch it. I have 33,000+ miles almost past warranty. I just went thru a rain today and noticed water in the back passager side, but not the front. I noticed a few others have a similar problem. Has anyone been able to get this figured out yet?
Why is this leaking on the floorboard?
Thanks

Check drain holes along bottom sides of all 4 doors. Mine have clogged several times. Watch the weather stripping, it will get you dirty. I have 06 500 company car.

Default water in 500 doors

Does the 500 have side marker lights on the roof pillar between the doors? Thats where two of my lincoln town cars were leaking in heavy rains ; silicon seal around the lamp fixtures cured the problem. good luck

I've been fixing water leaks and wind noises for 18 years. I work independently for 100's of dealers and on all makes and models.

If you are in the Los Angeles / Orange County area and need a wind noise or water leak repaired, you can email me at leak.solutions@yahoo.com

If your car is still under warranty and the dealer can't fix it, you can have the dealer call me. I may also be able to recommend someone to repair your car if you are out of my immediate area.

Thanks!

Default Ford 500 Door leak

The same thing has happened to me, now I'm getting the runaround from Ford. It rained and I noticed a baseball glove in the back floorboard was wet. I opened the door and water gushed out. Then it proceeded to flow out of the bottom of my door. The door probably had 5 inches of water in it. I'm pissed, because they are telling me my extended warranty will not cover it.
