Ford Aerostar Originally conceived as an answer to the first Chrysler minivans, the Aerostar is an old school rear-drive van that's at its best when it's harnessed for hard work. It can haul--and tow--heavier loads than the front-drive crowd, and gets the job done with a fair degree of comfort and style.

As far as I know.....

Your coolant fan runs all the time when the air conditioning is turned on. Well on several newer Fords when the defrost is being used the air conditioning is also used. The thinking is that the AC will dry out the air and help the defrost work that much faster, and in cold weather you aren't going to cool the air much more than it already is.

Personally I wouldn't sweat it, but if your unsure check that the coolant temp sensor is reading properly and that coolant fan relay isn't sticking.

The A/C also will work when you use the heat setting on you climate controls, it turns the A/C system into a Dehumidifier.

Also on a lot of the newer Fords when you use the vent/floor setting it also activates the A/C system no matter if you have the controls set to cold or hot. Reasoning is that the dense/humid air will drop to the bottom of the vehicle and get stirred up and mix with the dry air near the top of the vehicle. By having the A/C run it removes the Humidity.
