Ford Aerostar Originally conceived as an answer to the first Chrysler minivans, the Aerostar is an old school rear-drive van that's at its best when it's harnessed for hard work. It can haul--and tow--heavier loads than the front-drive crowd, and gets the job done with a fair degree of comfort and style.

Default Car just shut off

howdy all, I am new to this van forum but i use the truck forum alot. but

anyways, down to business. I have '93 aerostar and over the past couple of

weeks ive noticed that my gas mileage has gone down. normally i can go like 2

weeks on my normal day to day comute, but this past couple of weeks ive had

to fill up alot faster. Anyways, one night i went to crank my van and it

shudderd really bad, i stuck it in reverse and nothin happened and i gave it

some gas and nothin happened.

so i cut it off and then cranked it up again and then

it ran fine. So I drove on home and then on the highway i noticed to dark blue

smoke coming from my tailpipe...(ok so im burning rich) so now what? well i

kept driving and then it just shut off on me, power steering and everything.

and now i have it parked waiting

to be worked on. any information would help.

---one thought is that the fuel pressure regulator has gone bad and the motor is flooded.

--- some one said somethin to me bout the serpintine belt, because of everything just shuttin off, but im not too sure bout that.

Well when you mention the blue smoke that would be oil burning running rich would produce more of a black smoke that is harder to notice so my bet is that you have a serious engine problem. Whats your mileage?
