Ford Aerostar Originally conceived as an answer to the first Chrysler minivans, the Aerostar is an old school rear-drive van that's at its best when it's harnessed for hard work. It can haul--and tow--heavier loads than the front-drive crowd, and gets the job done with a fair degree of comfort and style.

Question engine struggling

I have a 93 Aerostar 4L 2WD(with a/c) and I'm wondering if a pooched pulley on a p/s pump could lag the belt enough to affect the crank (hence, the engine struggling). I had to re&re the alternator recently.

If you had a bad pulley the belt would squiel, but not slow the crank. I would start with checking the fuel filter, if it has not been changed in a year, change it. Then check spark plugs and wires.

How old is your battery? I'd get it either tested or replaced if it's more then 4 years old and the van is a daily driver.
