Clicking coming from engine during running

Can anyone give me and ideas on this. I have a 1986 Aerostar and recently it started clicking. The sound is coming from what seems like under the valve cover. It is a constant clicking that speeds up with acceleration. It doesnt go away at anytime. Please help me.....is it going to quit on me or is it an easy fix??

may sound like a dumb question but is you oil low? have you run it low or overheated at all?

I have 2 Aeros, both with 4.0 engines, both had the clicking coming from the valvetrain. My 91 lasted until 250000 miles and blew a head gasket, clicked for @ 100000 miles. The other is my wifes car and she replaced the engine with in 10000 miles of it starting to click. I under stand from the guy that pulled the engine that a valve guide had broke, but he thought that it would have run along time. I have not got into the otherone yet.
