Ford Aerostar Originally conceived as an answer to the first Chrysler minivans, the Aerostar is an old school rear-drive van that's at its best when it's harnessed for hard work. It can haul--and tow--heavier loads than the front-drive crowd, and gets the job done with a fair degree of comfort and style.

Default 5.0L 302 V8 in an Aerostar?

Is there anyone out there who thinks this is possible to match up with as little cutting and welding and chassis modification as possible?

Thank you
Is there anyone out there who thinks this is possible to match up with as little cutting and welding and chassis modification as possible?

Thank you
I'm considering a do-it-yourself head gasket repair on my 96 2WD 4.0 with some concern and dread at the limited space. I also have (well, I gave it to my daughter and she still lives at home) an 88 Mustang LX with a 5.0 which I'm quite familiar with. With those facts in mind my initial thought is; "No way. Not without considerable modification!"

I guess you could ???but its hard enough to just to change the spark plug as they stand.I'm thinking of putting a 5.0 in my ranger. I think that would be cool.

I have seen a 5.0 Aerostar once. When I worked at Venus Ford a guy came in with one. He had bought it used and thought the van was stock that way. Anyway we refused to work on the Aerostar since it was not in its stock form due to insurance reasons and they did not want to be liable for anything. The guy was seriously pissed even though we explained to him the van did not come that way from Ford, he insisted it did and drove away pissed off.

ive never personally seen the engine bay of a aerostar but i do know that you can fit a zz502 in to a gmc safari and most gm v8's fit nicely with only custom motor mounts and some wiring to do .

The 5.0 will fit snug in an Aerostar, I have seen one in person. However you will not be doing a spark plug change easy.

What about mid engined. Using a V drive. Should make it easy to change out the plugs any way. <grin>
