Ford Aerostar Originally conceived as an answer to the first Chrysler minivans, the Aerostar is an old school rear-drive van that's at its best when it's harnessed for hard work. It can haul--and tow--heavier loads than the front-drive crowd, and gets the job done with a fair degree of comfort and style.

Default Ford Aerostar

How does one extract the starter from a 1994 Aerostar w/all wheel drive. I have removed the mounting bolts but can't get it out. The manafold or the engine mounting bracket prevents removal. Thoughts?

Hi,
I've never had that problem. The starter always comes right out. However, if the manifold or motormount is in the way, you must support the engine and/or the whole front cradle from underneath and remove the motor mount or whatever is in your way. You can also try removing the bolt from the motor mount(with the engine supported!!!!!!!!) and very carefully jack it up or lower it depending on what you need for clearance. Your best bet...Take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
