Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Default Help With Tailgate Window 1994 Bronco

My tailgate window just stopped while lowering it. It is not the fuse, and the gears are well greased. Most likely it is electrical problem. Any clue the cost of getting this repaired? Can I do it myself, ? And guys go easy on me haha I am female. :eek

sounds like it might need a motor... you CAN do it yourself, BUT... be prepared to skin some knuckles and swear a lot...

worst part will be cutting the sToOPid rivits holding the motor in, and you're going to have to come up with some small bolts to put it back together...

I'd use a test light at the plug of the motor and make sure it's getting power and ground before I did anything else...

Default bronco tailgate

I tested the switch wires and they are fine. The window is stuck down so I cannot get to the motor.

all you need to do is take the inner panel off the tailgate..

then unbolt the glass from the scissors assembly (regulator) and slide it up out of the way.

there is also an annoying saftey switch at the bottom of the tailgate. It is to prevent the window from operating while the tail is open. mine broke and I bypassed it. works fine, although, it would suck if I rolled it up while the tail is open

Well I know it is not the motor, finally got the window up. there is a short somewhere, however I have power at the switch and both sides. There is also power at the motor. Should I just start replacing wires? THere is a connector which I have power at about 8 inches from the motor. I am lost here have no clue why it isn't working.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the rubber bushings on the strike post, one on each side of the tailgate side jambs. They were worn down to nothing and the tailgate wouldn't close tight enough to activate the safety switch. Super simple to replace them and cheap, Good Luck

I have the same problem with my 93. I jiggle the wires.. it works.

When it stops working.. it is usually at the most INOPPORTUNE time! I just take the batch of wires in the wire loom.. jiggle it for a good 5 seconds.. and whallla!

I'm getting an occasional problem with this also... I have found that by pushing the tail gat in it will go up so I guess I need to check into geting some new rubber bushings.
