Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Default 88 bronco stuff

Hello everyone. As you can see, this is my first post here. I'm buying a '88 Bronco from someone. I've been looking for a place to find all the stats for my rig. But I'll be damned if I can find it. The generic part of my VIN is, 1MFEU15H9JLA-----. Looking for normal information for now. Engine size (I believe it's a 351 windsor), HP, torque, mpg, exhaust output diameter. Among other things. I'm also looking for a few items for it, i.e: rear seat seatbelts, rear window motor/regulator. Any helpful websites, hint or tips would be appreciated.

I have a feeling I will be frequenting this forum everyday.

Well it's a start. I had a 77 chevy, but someone set it on fire. So I figured I'd start over with a Bronco. I've always wanted one. So time for me to see how mean I can make it. A 351 is a good place to start for a Bronco novice. I've already designed my custom exhaust. I just need to get into my friends garage and start bending pipe.

Thanks for you reply and the info.

Any more would be helpful.

Have an 88 Bronco II, have replaced the computer, the module, coil, pick up coil inside distributor, still having problems, won't keep running and now has back fire killilng the battery. my mechanic is tracing every wire. Recently reading 12 volts with the computer out of the vehicle, and fire back feeding somewhere. Tried 3 different radios, turn the volume up and it turns the channel by itself. Please help my mechanic friend is losing sleep over this.

Wiring problems can be a nightmare to trace down; there's probably a short circuit somewhere. A better solution would be to just replace the whole wiring harness. That would be a whole lot less hassle, less time consuming, probably less expensive, and when you're done, you'll know everything is right.

I believe that you should only get 5 volts out of the computer.
Your friend, or you should get a Ford EVTM for your year.
Electrical and Vacuum troubleshooting manual.

Then you can work your way through the system.

I'm not a professional mechanic, take my suggestions with a grain of salt, or a cup of coffee
