Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Default 95 Bronco Ignition Cylinder - Need Help

Hello ! I hope I am posting in the correct section ... if not, please forgive me and direct me to the correct section.

We've had a 95 Bronco for a few months. When we purchased it (used from a dealer) the ignition would operate with or without the key.

Today, when the key was removed, it would not shut off. We d/c the coil wire to stop it from running and d/c the battery to prevent drain.

How hard is it to replace the ignition coil ? I have read on several different sites that you can just remove the ignition trim and pop a button and remove/replace the cylinder. Probably a little more complicated, but I just wanted to get some input here.

Do you think it is the ignition cylinder that needs to be replaced ? If so, can you give me some tips/directions on replacing it ?

Any help is greatly appreciated, as we have the worst luck and things at our house always tear up on the weekends when any type of repair facility is closed.

there is a pin that you push up located on the bottom of the cylinder housin, turn the key clinder while pushing the pin up then pull on the cylinder. it may not be the cylinder, does it have tilt, most of the time it brakes the half moon down inside the steering column.

We have replaced the cylinder lock - TWICE (we broke the first one). The motor will still not turn off. The components that are in the housing .... you cannot manually turn it off even without the cylinder in place .... so is the housing one complete unit ? It looks like something that we certainly can't do ourselves, as the only way I see to R&R is to remove the steering wheel. ANY advice is appreciated.
