Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Default 89 Ford Bronco II- need help please!

My nephew's Bronco II just died on him the other night while driving home. When I try to start the car, the engine turns but won't catch and actually start. The battery is corroded, and the poor kid doesn't have too much money, so I am going to do the work for him. I have the Hayne's manual, but that doesn't pinpoint the problem. I can't figure this out. Maybe the fuel pump? If anyone has any ideas it would be awesome!!!! Please help!

ok,
EZ checks first;
clean the batty terminals and posts; take off Negative cable first (black cable at batty -); then Pos (red + cable; clean all; clean with small wire brush, cardboard nail file, tooth brush, etc. (to save money on stuff); then baking soda and water; let it fizzle, then clean residue off with water; try not to spill all over batty, etc; use rags... when they are all bright and dry; hook up +, then - cables.

try starting again... if no go; check all cables (+ & -):
from batty to the solenoid (on fender near batty) to starter (+)
to frame (- grounds), to engine frame (- grounds)
some get corroded & fray
try again
then check for trouble codes; there are DIY key on, engine off (KOEO test)
checks pls others; read this:
EEC-IV Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) http://www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm
you'll need a cheap multimeter from Radio Shack or Wal Mart for this
another site:
http://www.tomco-inc.com/Tech_Tips/ttt6.pdf
one more with possible causes for some Codes (sim to the nephew's bronco)

come back with any findings or ask more Qs..have to save $!.. been there too!
good luck!
