Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

When 94 Bronco is not in 4 wheel drive it makes a clicking noise. What could this be? Seems to be coming from the hub.

Default Bring back the king of the trails!!!

Ford needs to bring back the Bronco. I want something that will take complete controll over the trails again. So Ford, if your reading this, bring back the Bronco.

I would'nt worry too much about it. Because when you get the truck out of 4 wheel drive it clicks to lock the front. To go back to 2 wheel drive.

higgy2000,
do you have manual or auto hubs?

do you know how to engage and disengage them?

jhawk, you got your response all backwards.

I have auto hubs, and they do not click. I suspect that it would be even less likely for manual hubs to click. When your hubs are engaged, the ujoint to the axels turn. IF they are shot, they might click. Otherwise I imagine that it is something internal to the huibs.

For more info on the front hubs try

Also I made this little 2 page pdf from a link I found at the above to a 360 page pdf file.
Hope it helps.

I have auto hubs. They only make the noise in two wheel drive. When I put it in four wheel the noise goes away. Then when I take it out of four wheel drive the noise does come back right away. I removed the hub and every thing looks fine inside. I've been told to replace the auto hubs with manual hubs ?

To disengage auto hubs put her in 2wd and back up at least ten feet.

Then drive forward and see if you still have the clicking.

One of my problems as a mechanic is that I don't have a lot of experience, and can't tell the difference between an acceptably worn part, and one that necessarily needs to be replaced, unless it is REAL worn, or obviously broken.

A lot of people prefer manual hubs to auto hubs, and will make that recommendation regardless of whether there is an issue or not. Will it fix your problem? That's a definite .. who knows?
