Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Default It'll just stalls out seemingly for no reason???

I have a 91 Fullsize Ford Bronco and lately i've had some problems with it that i just can't seem to figure out what it is...after i start it up in the morning it'll idle and then occassionally just cut off for no reason, ever so quietly. And then there are times to where it'll cut off as i'm backing up or from backing up putting it into drive and b4 i can accelerate it shuts off! again just so quietly...it doesn't shake or mis-fire, so i don't know exaclty what it could be. It'll shut off sometimes just as soon as i put it into gear whether it be R or D...just shut off! It'll run tho after i struggle with it for sometime and when it does run, it was beautifully, right idle, good acceleration everything! It's just this damn stalling thing like once it's first started everytime, no matter what time of the day! Can anyone help me figure out this problem???

Throttle body has been cleaned; has just had tune-up about a week ago, new fuel filter; and now for some reason seems to be getting worse.

I have a 93 w/302 and had the same problem. It would stall at a stop light on occasion but if I put it in reverse it stalled nearly all the time. I finally talked to a trans shop and found out that this is common due to the trans filter falling off.
It's appearently a problem with most filters not fitting properly. I went through everything else including a TPS, ignition modual and other parts. The new filter did the trick. I had taken it to another shop and they told me I needed a trans rebuild for about $900. I called a different shop and they came up with the filter problem. It cost me about $100. to get it fixed.

No, i went ahead and replaced the idle contol valve and it ran just fine for like 2 days and then on the 3rd day, that morning, it started up again. I have not had the codes checked...i don't have anything for it and can't getting it going to take it anywhere! I think that is one thing i really need to get done!

Default hey- to camperjohn

Yeah, it'll just shut off as soon as i put it into gear sometimes and it's only stalled once when driving, it usually runs fine once its going. The trans was rebuilt last november so i know thats pretty good but i think i'm going to look into the trans filter thing...Did you happen to replace the MAF sensor as well but didn't work?

I did not change the MAF. As soon as I had the trans filter properly fitted the problem stopped and I haven't had a problem since. The trans is interconnected with soo many things, if the filter isn't on right and the pressure is off, then you get problems. I had gone through at least 6 mechanics and lot of time on the net befor I was refered to the last guy and he knew right off about this problem.
I could have sworn that it was an ignition or fuel problem but no so.
