Ford Bronco Until the mid '90s, the Ford Bronco was famous for being a rough-and-tumble off-road vehicle that had been tackling trails and fording streams since the 1960s. It was also one of the first sport-utility vehicles: a versatile truck then described by Ford as being able to serve as a family sedan, sports roadster, snowplow or farm and civil defense vehicle.

Question 86 full size, gas gauge always empty

like the title says I own a 86 full size bronco, for about 2 months the gas gauge has been showing empty no matter how much gas i have in it. If someone could help out explain why this could be that would be great.

Default gas guage problem

for some reason, the float from the sender loses bouyancy and must be replaced. Happened twice to me inside of three years.

Is this a common problem in this model? My 89 Bronco II....same thing...its always empty. I was wondering if it might be the fuel sender. How hard (or easy) is it to get to the top of the tank? Have to drop it, or is there an access hole in the floor?

yo!
to test the Sender; here are some Links in my Bronco site:

-------------------------------

some cut-out a floor pan section above the fuel pump/sender; I used a batty op dremel; just be careful; use a small diameter cut-off wheel on it or an angle grinder. use a brass chisel/punch to unscrew the ring; at a yard, cut out a larger floor pan section and use it to cover the section you cut-out or use plywood etc.

for full sizes; here are some Links in my site;
