Ford Club Wagon The undisputed market leader in the full-size passenger van segment is the Ford Club Wagon, the passenger version of the Econoline van. The Club Wagon, the only full-size passenger van with body-on-frame construction, has always been head-and-shoulders better than the Chevrolet and Dodge full-size vans, which are built with unitbody construction techniques.

Default Gas to diesel conversion

I have a 1989 Ford Econline window van with a 351 Windsor gas engine. Is it realistic to consider swapping to a diesel engine and if so what engine is the more natural choice for the swap?

Did you find out anything on swapping out your 352W for a diesel? I would like to do the same thing.

yout the could put the 7.3 or 6.0 diesel but the milage differance is not worth the cost a good tune up or a banks exhaust will safe youy money

Default I've done this research

I have a 92 F-250 with a slightly modded 460 and an all billet E4OD. My application is towing about 16,000 lbs. I got ahold of a matched 2002 7.3 powerstroke and trans. with all of the electronics. After contacting several shops, I have come up with a ballpark number of about 8k to switch the engine. Ouch. I am better off looking for a newer F-250/350 that is already diesel is what they all say. Or my favorite is them always saying that it would be cheaper put in a Cummins. -sigh- Of course if someone know where I can get a transference done cheaper than that. I'm interested!

You can get wore out state trucks (93-95)for around 1000-3000 with the 7.3 in them, we have 3 of those trucks, then use it for a donor vehicle. Keep an eye open for an auction in the paper.

billet or a built E40D?

I'm looking to do the same- convert my '95, gas-pig Bronco to either diesel then biodiesel or to natural gas. I'm planning to document the process for a film looking at ways for average working people to find ways to become "green" with our work vehicles. We can't afford to just dump gas burning investments and get expensive hybrids. What works? What's plausible? Maybe as a start we can re-tune the common 351s to get 20 mpg. I underestand this can be done incrementally with changes in air-intake, exhaust, more efficient valve parts and lubricants. I welcome all input.
