Ford Club WagonThe undisputed market leader in the full-size passenger van segment is the Ford Club Wagon, the passenger version of the Econoline van. The Club Wagon, the only full-size passenger van with body-on-frame construction, has always been head-and-shoulders better than the Chevrolet and Dodge full-size vans, which are built with unitbody construction techniques.
1999 E-350 v10 surging at idle and sometimes shutting off at idle
I have a 1999 E-350, 6.8 v10; just rebuit motor; had fuel injectors cleaned while out of the motor; replaced fuel filter; the motor runs fine when driving, but when idling it frequently surges - jumps up 500 rpm for a coulpe of seconds; idles with a lope; not uncommon for it to simply quit running while sitting at a top light. Starts up and goes okay; power is steady under throttle and driving. It was doing this surging/loping before the motor was rebuilt. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Had a similiar situation with my v10, turned out it was a small vacuum hose that was begining to wear, creating a vacuum break. I believe the v10 has two of these small hoses, one for each bank on the engine (left and right) and that there is also an OBD II code for the situation. I had no problems at full speed (outside of stopped/at idle). Ocurred for a week or so, and then became worse. Replaced the little hose, and its been okay for the last 11K miles (I am currently at 158K miles)
