Ford Comet From 1960 through 1967 Mercury, a division of the Ford Motor Company, produced the Comet. The Comet was initially built atop a Ford Falcon frame that was stretched and became Mercury's intermediate/compact entry vehicle. With a 114 inch wheelbase many thought it would be considered an intermediate, but Mercury classified it as a compact.

Default 63 Comet rear tires

I've done some measuring and I think I can squeeze a set of 235/60x15 inch tires on a pair of standard "0" offset wheels under the rear of my 63 Comet. Has anyone tried this yet? - dan

I've got 215/70/15's on mine. They are tight, but there's enough clearance.

Don't know for sure, they're stock '75 Dodge truck wheels.
I have 3/4 to 1" clearance on the outside, and about 1 1/2" between the springs and tire.

Thanks again for the info, you've actually got a lot of clearance with this setup. - dan
