Ford Comet From 1960 through 1967 Mercury, a division of the Ford Motor Company, produced the Comet. The Comet was initially built atop a Ford Falcon frame that was stretched and became Mercury's intermediate/compact entry vehicle. With a 114 inch wheelbase many thought it would be considered an intermediate, but Mercury classified it as a compact.

Default early 60's Ford 170 c.i. engine

Hi,

I am a brand new member of this forum. I need a little info. I have a 66 Ford Mustang with an early 60's Ford 170 c.i. 6 cyl engine. I need to adjust the valve lash. I am pretty sure this engine was used in the early 60's Comets. I am hoping some of you Comet owners might be able to tell me what the feeler gauge reading for both the intake and exhaust valves is. A response would be greatly appreciated.

HELP! I want to put a 390 engine and four speed transmission in my 1957 ford fairlane. I need to know how much trouble it will be. Will it sit in without changing motor mounts? What kind of transmission should I use that would be the least trouble to install? What bell housing , clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing should i use? Thanks for any help.

completly repace the whole drive train. My dads truck has a 390 HIPO but it is automatic. You chose a good motor.
