Ford CometFrom 1960 through 1967 Mercury, a division of the Ford Motor Company, produced the Comet. The Comet was initially built atop a Ford Falcon frame that was stretched and became Mercury's intermediate/compact entry vehicle. With a 114 inch wheelbase many thought it would be considered an intermediate, but Mercury classified it as a compact.
Ok so basically I had some engine trouble a year ago, I had to replace it. The guys did that, and when they finished the engine ran fine, but the car wouldn't move. So they pulled off the drive line again and lined up the torque converter. Well after they fixed that, it wouldn't start.
Now, when the battery is hooked up, without the key in even, the ALT light is always on. We replaced the starter, but my only guess is there is a ground somewhere. Does anyone know of a place that I could get an eletrical schematic or a manual for a 1975 FORD Maverick? Anything, I gotta get this sucker fixed!
A late reply, a wire probably pinched during the recent service or a diode failed inside the alternator - remove the skinny wires from the alt and then observe light - lite out=alt bad, otherwise trace wiring pinched.
