Ford Comet From 1960 through 1967 Mercury, a division of the Ford Motor Company, produced the Comet. The Comet was initially built atop a Ford Falcon frame that was stretched and became Mercury's intermediate/compact entry vehicle. With a 114 inch wheelbase many thought it would be considered an intermediate, but Mercury classified it as a compact.

Default Parting out a 65 4-Door Comet- Need Advice

The family car (1965 Mercury Comet, 4-door, 6-Cylinder, automatic, power nothing, blue) has been sitting in the weeds since the early 80s. The body is heavily dented and the passenger headlight assembly and fender are damaged. There is surface rust but no apparent through and through. It was parked because of a bad transmission and worn out engine. The interior however is not bad, not great, but not bad.

So here is the thing. After sitting for 20 plus years the folks and neighbors want it gone. I was instructed by my siblings to call the county and have it removed yesterday. Since I am not an expert on Comets, I need advice on what I should part out if anything. I doubt there is much interest in 4-door Comets, but maybe some of the parts fit 2-doors? And if there is anything I should remove, where should I list/sell it?

As you can see, this is not a quest to get rich, but instead an attempt to NOT throw away something useful. Any advice is much appreciated.

I would take off the front clip, rear bumper, tail lights, instument cluster, steering column before giving it to the shredder. You can sell all of that stuff to 2 door owners.
