Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Angry 99 contour sputtering

I have a 99 ford contour with a 2.0 engine and it feels like it is misfiring. I had it put on a analizier and a code for the cam positioning sensor popped up. So i replaced it and reset the ECM and still no change in engine performance. So i took the next step and replaced wires, plugs, and ignition module. even tried replacing the MAF. I'm stuck on ideas and it isn't reading anymore codes. so please if anyone can help please let me know. Because if i can't find out what it is, it would be cheaper to roll it down a big hill on fire. thanks.

Mileage?
Has the timing belt been changed and if so, how long ago?

Forddly: Do you have a 2.0 also?

What does it do when you drive it? I know you say it feels like a misfire but give me a bit more to go on.

yes I have a 2.0. On another forum I read the same problem was caused by the fuel injector wiring harness. It is that one that most of the sensors go to. In my case those wires have the insulation falling off.

Default no good car

I have replaced the both o2 sensors, the cam and crank position sensors, the trans shift sensor, and the wire harness that goes to all these sensors. The car still runs bad, and check engine light is still on. rechecked codes and camshaft position sensor was replaced 2nd time no difference. I guess I will change timing belt, but do not see that as problem. Has anyone ever have similar problem, and how did you fix?
