Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default 96 ford contour slips out of o/d at times

Does this 2.0 engine have the 4 spd trans with a torq lock up for o/d? Goes into overdrive ok, step on gas, downshifts on expressway like passing I,E . Sticks there at times and the o/d off light begins to flash. When that occors, i can;t get it back in. I have to feather the gas and kindof punch it a bit then let off to get to go back in when that light don;t come on flashing. Anyone have this issue? Can that light flashing mean other things?

Hi, here's what I know so far. I have a 95' Contour 2.5L. After it warms some it begins to jump in and out of O/D. Then I have to down shift to quiet it down. I'v done a shift kit on the tranny. Installed the SK CD4E-Jr Kit. This is supposed to correct converter slip. So I fire it up and it runs great for about 20 miles and then starts acting up again. So now I ordered the EEC-IV code scanner because I have a check engine code locked in. I'm hopng it's the range sensor or the VSS or the TSS. I'll let you know what I find. Hope this is some help. Do you have a check engine light coming on?
