Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
the 4 spd trans Goes into overdrive but, downshifts on expressway after a while. The o/d off light begins to flash. When that occors, i can;t get it back in to overdrive and starts shifting hard afterward. if it Sits for a while then it will go back to normal Anyone have this issue? Can that light flashing mean other things? How can you tell if the transmission range sensor is bad?
there was some discussion in another thread about the overdrive light, etc and what to replace if that happens with the light flashing, etc. I'm not quite sure which thread, hopefully someone can point u in the right direction! When i had my transmission range sensor go out, the overdrive light didn't flash!
Check your owner's manual, should have a section on that light flashing. That is a code, that by the way, indicates that there is a sensor or electrical problem that needs addressing. A Chilton's manual for the car probably contains that info. But the ggod news is that it sounds like something that is relatively easy to fix (relative as compared to yanking the tranny out and replacing it that is). I'll start checking my Chilton's and see what I can come up with.
