 1996 Contour - shakes at idle, stalls on hot days, stalls when using a/c
The car shakes/vibrates at idle...whether you are in park/drive, moving or not. You can feel it through the steering wheel and pedals. It is NOT related to warped rotors, engine mounts, or anything that you would ONLY feel while the car is moving. It also stalls on hot days at random. It shakes really bad when you flip on the A/C and tends to stall more often with A/C on. A mechanic told the previous owner that it was getting more air than gas...the air/gas ratio is off I guess.
So what would cause this? What steps would I take to diagnose this issue? What can I inspect visually without taking anything apart? And what might fix it? I can not afford to take it to a shop...nor do I trust many.
Any help or suggestions would help greatly and be very appreciated. |
