Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default most milage

I just bought a 98 ford contour 4 cylinder with 156,452 miles on it and I was wondering what to expect from it. It runs pretty good, and doesn't smoke at all. The tranny had a problem that I think I fixed with a range sensor. last car I had was a 88 subaru that had 153,000 on it and when it died it had 375,000 on it. I was wondering if these cars have that kind of life? Who has the most miles out there?

Like any other car, all depends on how you care for it. I know of a few that have 250k past 300k and are still going strong.

It's all in the maintenance.
As Dave said, we know of people with 250K+ on their Zetecs. The Zetec is a tough engine!

If you haven't already, do a DRAIN and refill of the trans fluid. DO NOT have it flushed at that mileage! Draining and refilling is much gentler on a higher mileage trans vs having it flushed.

Do the refill with the Ford "honey". It's a bit pricey but it's worth it and it's made for the car.

Do you know when the last time the timing belt was changed? If not, take the cover off and take a look at the belt.
