Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
can someone explain to me what exactly is it?
is it an engine that is 3.0 from something else that will fit or is it simply making the 2.5 into 3.0?
It's taking a 3L from a tarus\escape and dropping it in. http://contour.org/ceg-vb/index.php Search for 3L, there is a ton of information there about the 3L swaps.

well the 3L. taurus and the 2.5L. SVT has same horsepower so i dont see a difrence in making the swap. SVT seems like a better choice. they both have 200 Horses

I guess the big question is, what condition is your 2.5 in? Is it blown or still running? One of the big reasons people do the swap is because their 2.5 has gone and it's much easier and less expensive to find a low mileage 3.0 than a 2.5 SVT engine.

I remember your post about the rods. Tell us more about what occurred to your stock engine, did the rod go through the block? Or, were you just getting the "knock"?
It's much cheaper to do a 3L than trying to locate a 2.5 SVT engine. You really don't want to use a non-SVT engine in your SVT. You could, but why lose some of that HP, etc.
Here is some info from a reputable company that can provide already built 3L's.

I also sent you a link, via PM, that should help you.
well , i do not have SVT....i wish i did....i simply have SE 5speed manual. but i was geting the SVT motor for it and also SVT exhust and the ground effects. but looking at everything i might just do the 3L swap and the ground efffects with the exhust from svt

I have a 95 ford contour and the transmission let go last week. I was wondering if I could put a 3.0L V6 w/ 3 speed automatic transmission in it. The engine and trans are from a dodge. would anyone know if it would line up or which motor mounts would have to be moved/relocated?
That would be an absolute nightmare. Nothing would fit right, every wire would have to be transferred. None of the mounts would work. It would be easier to build a car from scratch probably.
If you're hard up for an engine, why not sell your Dodge 3.0 to get the money to fix your Contour?

I end up editing all my posts for the same reason I work on my cars all the time. I never get it right the first time.
Oh, and Tudor is an old Ford name for a Two-Door. My 87 Crown Vic is the last full-size "Tudor" Ford made. For clarification, I have no relation to any British royal family...
