Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

I cant find my vss..I have a 2.0 1997 auto

I have a 1997 2.0 contour auto.

The speedo croaked and I thought it was the vss.
I been reading and come to find it has a tss I think turbine speed sensor and not a vss.

I cant find neither... I pulled the knock sensor and the crank sensor thinking it was the vss.

Im going nuts
I got the blinking OD light and car wontr shift out of 1st.
It happened all the sudden..I scanned the car 4 hours prior and it had ZERO PROBLEMS.

I cant locate the vss/tss and dont even know if it has either.

HELP!!!!

has your speed meter been acting up ?
P0715 is a loss of signal from the Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) aka Transmission Speed Sensor.

You remove the front Left tire....to get to it.

I took the l front tire off and the sensor right there seems to be the crank sensor when I google it.

Theres a metal clip v lock over it,then its about 2 incches long and has a tiny magnet on the end.

I also removed the knock sensor I think right under the header has 1 torx bolt and is about 1 inch long blacxplastic.....
I cant find anything else.

The one behind the left tire.
The tranny case is round and looks like it could be removed with about 8 little 8mm bolts.
The sensor is on that cover upper right hand corner.
IS THAT THE VSS?? the number is F3RP-7H062-AA

Talking

Goto the passenger side wheel, take it off, folow the drive axel to the end, about 1 inch from the end youll see the sensor .1 bolt on it,remove the bolt and turn the sensor side to side until you can pull it out.
DONT REMOVE THE SENSOR FROM THE drivers side tranny.thats the turbine speed sensor

The crank sensor would be right near the exhaust manifold nd you have to go under the car from the front to get to it.

Have fun

According to autozone.com
On your 1997 Ford Contour 2.0L MFI DOHC , the Vehicle Speed Sensor - Location is located: behind the dash

Now that seems odd to me, as in rear drive vehicles they are in the rear differential, and 1980-1991 bronco's and F150's they were in the transfer case.
