Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default I need help with a 99 contour 4cyl

The other day while driving to get a new sable my sisters contour quit and had to be towed back home. It will crank but thats about it. I tried replacing the fuel filter and spark plugs with no luck either. The fuel pump is coming on and priming, it has spark and ive tried spraying starter fluid into it and more or less same results. Every so often when you try and turn it over it pops like its going to fire and then just keeps cranking. Im not familiar with fords for the most part but im pretty mechanically inclined. The car is a 99 4cyl auto 4dr if it makes any difference. Thanks for any help, andrew.

Sounds like it may have jumped time.

Find someone with a fuel compression test to see if fuel pump is putting out 45 to 50 lbs of pressure cause if it isn't there is not enough compression to push the fuel?

Check compression. It is really low, I vote with Phantom.
