Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
i got a 98 contour 4 cylinder and the key is broken in half. can i just get one made or do i need to get a dealer to program a chip? i was told that some had chips and some didnt. i dont see a chip, and it not a very big key. about as thick as an escort key. can i tell just by looking at it? is there something that would be in the steering column if it does need a chip? any help would be greatly appriciated. thanx
The chip is only read at start up it will not make the vehicle die.Do you see and is the anti theft lamp blinking fast?
i belive you are wrong on this one... the car will die while runing. i have got the key made at home depot and to test that theory i poped the cluitch with the regular key and the car did run for about 10 sec. and than it died. the delarship told me the same thing.. the car will just shut off.
