Ford ContourFord Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.
So here is a list of things wrong with my car... check engine light on,took it 2 auto zone and it reads something about the catalyst, rotten egg smell (on and off),sounds like a harley-I think it has something to do with my exhaust, no power steering-high pressure hose has a leak, and now a scraping, thunderish noise coming from the right rear i believe when stopping, bad 02 sensors, etc.
Usually the sulfur smell can be fixed by switching gas stations.
The sulfur in gas i removed during the refining process, and some oil companies work better than others.
If your ar sounds like a harley, there is probably a hole in the exhaust before one or more of the O2 senors.
That woud explain the noise and the bad O2 sensors.
To fix the power steering, just replace the hose.
And while your at it, since one has gone, have all of them replaced.
If you could give us the EXACT codes AutoZone gave you, it would help.
performance is fine, It is still powerful...the check engine light came on shortly after i bought the car 2 yrs ago and it is just this past week that the exhaust is messed up and the brakes(at least,i think it is the brakes)I am going 2 have them checked out 2morrow. Is there anything else in the rear of the car that would make that sound?
I will go 2 auto zone again and have them give me the codes, because i lost them. Also, I had the check engine light diagnosed and they couldn't tell me what the codes meant they just gave me a 2 page list of what it could be...Oh yeah and my a.c. doesn't work. I think the compresser went out because it was making a funky noise so got the shorter serpentine belt which bypasses the ac so i wouldent have 2 hear it and that is when the high pressure hose started leaking(after we changed that)the belt is right next 2 the power steering pump...
