Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Default Headlight on dinger

I’m working on a 2000 Contour V6 and it doesn’t always ding when the headlights are left on when the car is not running. Any ideas on where the dinger is or where the relay may be would be really appreciated.

Thank you,

-rcicu

I am guessing that it is related the GEM generic electronic module.
The door ajar chime and key in ignition switch chime etc is in the GEM on other vehicles.

The GEM is a black box located to the left or right of the steering column about 4x4x1 inches in size with apporx 60-80 wires coming out of it. IT controls many thing things that are timed such as interior lights, headlight delay, power windows, and intermittant wipers. Of course there are variances from one vehicle to another.

I just have to say that I laughed out loud when I read the title of this thread.
