help my 98 contour SE wont go into reverse

hi my name is damian im from syracuse NY i bought the car 5 days ago for 500 dollars and the dealer sed the car had no problems so i got it home and attempted to back into the driveway and it just revved up as if it were in neutrel the after a while i JUMPED into reverse now it wont even go into reverse at all i dont know what it could be. i was told i need a new tranny then i was told the reverse band was slipping then i was told to replace the lines then i was told to get a new car which i really can afford if anyone here knows what the problem could be or what i should do feel free to email me at damenteri@live.com thanx and merry christmas to all ...

Well bro, you get what you pay for, and for 500 dollars, i'm sure it's going to have problems down the line..But im pretty sure it's the transmission, if it's reving up then jumping into gear, than yes it's ur tranny, have you took it to a shop and let them check it out?
