Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Ford codes are only available going back 10 years. Codes prior to 1999 are no longer on file, and the '99 codes will be deleted when the 2010 models come out. Contours are easily opened by a professional without a key. Most Contours are transponder keyed in '98 and most dealers (or locksmiths) will not cut a key "just to open the doors" due to liability.

I know this was posted a while ago but,
my sister has a 97 contour and has locked herself out of it many times.
i have found that if you take a mrtal coat hanger and straighten it that you can stick it in the very top of the driver side door and press the unlock button.
it would help if you put like a hook in the metal so it can be pressed against the door.

Yep, I agree. A COAT HANGER WORKS.

You just have to manuever to get it past the rubber (on the edges of your car door) inside your vehicle but it'll happen........

Plus, it'll help if you get someone with a flat head screwdriver , put a little separation between the door and doorframe, in order for you to manuever the clothes hanger more readily.
