Ford Contour Ford Contour combines sporty driving dynamics with the comfort and practicality of a four-door sedan. It doesn't have the rear-seat space of a Taurus, but Ford improved rear legroom and revised the styling. Contour SVT pours on the coal with a higher output version of the Duratec V6, a sports suspension and bigger brakes.

Exclamation Blown 60a Fuse under hood, Help!

My 98 contour GL 2.0L auto has blown the 60a fuse in the power distribution box under the hood by the battery. I tried to remove it to replace it, but it would not come out. I did notice that all three fuses (2- 30a and a 60a) are in a block that seems to be removable.

My question is:

Does anyone know how to get those fuses out, or do I have to replace that whole 3 fuse block? (fuses numbered 1,2, and 3, I blew number 3).

Without this fuse, I have no ABS brakes, and no heat/AC ( or at least the blower motor).

Thanks in advance.

I was wrong, I guess it is 1-80a fuse and 2- 60a fuses in the block of three. Same question applies though.

It should pull right out, try using a little leverage of pliers to pull out, it may have some corrosion, the reason why it blew in the first place

Thanks for the reply!

Thats what I thought too, but they will not budge. Well, on the bright side, at least its not one of those things that you have to replace the whole fusebox to fix. I can (hopefully) just get a new fuse block for those 3 fuses and replace it, going to replace the battery anyway, so unbolting the fuse box shouldn't be a problem from there.

Thanks again!

Found out how to get the fusible links out!! You have to pull up the 3-fuse block, loosen the small bolts that look like they are holding the wires to the block, Don't remove them, just loosen, then pull out the fuse, new one in, tighten the bolts back up, snap the block back into the Power Distribution box. Done. Wires are very stiff, and you'll just be able to get an 8mm socket on them to loosen the bolts. There are 2 per fuse. one left and one right., You'll have to remove the battery to get at the left one.

Thought i'd share a small triumph.
